Tiny Tales from Week 18

Will is addicted to three things: The Computer (Minecraft and minecraft videos on Youtube) and Sugar. When I was horrendously sick coming down off Caffeine I woke up one morning at 3:30am to find the lights on in the hallway and Will sitting at the glowing screen of Les' computer. Needless to say I sent him back to bed. He's only allowed with permission on Friday after school and a couple of hours each on Saturday and Sunday. This meant he was sneaking up early in the morning and getting on. Needless to say despite losing all access for a couple of weeks he still couldn't stop himself so we've had to password both computers.
He still wakes up early though and so in that time he trawls the fridge, freezer and pantry for sugar. He brings this food back to the couch and puts the remnants on the couch under the cushions. Or if get up while he still has the food he'll just put it under the cushion to hide it. This includes but is not limited to: Sprinkles and 100&1000's, muesli bars, biscuits, honey, mustard, tomato sauce, golden syrup, polony, hard boiled eggs, left over sausages and schnitzel, and an Ice block.
Almost everything in my pantry that is edible in it's raw state is now on the top shelf and we need a step stool for a grown-up to reach it. This drives me bonkers. And even so he still finds stuff that it would have never occurred to me to stash.
You're probably thinking why don't we leave him food to eat... there is! He can make his own cereal or toast he just doesn't- he's like a trouble seeking missile.
The third thing is getting physical with Tama. He just can't stop himself. I really worry that he is going to cause his brother serious injury or death. The most likely thing is brain damage- the amount of times he has knocked him down to the floor and made him hit his head. I have tried 50 different ways to get him to stop and he just can't. There have been times where I've come on the scene just in time to witness the abuse/damage/end-event and my mother instinct has kicked into high gear and we're both damn lucky I haven't throttled him- to see someone do something like he does to my precious boy is horrifying and sickening and that it is my other precious boy doing it is soul destroying.

The first four days of May were rain free and warmish- and it's lucky we took advantage of them...because the rest of May was shite! The third highest rainfall for May in the last 30 years.

We are loving all the visitors to our bird table. Above are three out or five of the most common. We also get Magpies and Magpie Larks.

We don't normally get Kookaburra's they prefer meat/insects.

This little '28' came in for a few seconds and then changed his mind and went back out again.

Hook into Hockey has started back up.

And Les started working on the new path. We scored the pavers for free from some people not so far away.

It was a bit rainy for the Bickley Valley Harvest Festival but luckily not so much that we didn't get to go and check out the scarecrows that Will's class made at school.

The Scarecrows were hosted at a local vineyard there was a bit of a market as well. It was very nice.

As part of the festival the local wildlife rescue centre, Kanyana, had an open day. It's in the same suburb as us and Les took the boys over to have a look.

On Sunday Tama found a rock fossil that Will had in his room and brought it into the lounge and inexplicably threw it. And extra inch higher and he would have missed the TV. This is what it looked like after about 8 hours.

And this is what it looked like the next day. We got a new TV on HP... gutted.
